A 90-minute interview might contain four or five genuinely clippable moments, buried in setup, tangents, and dead air. Finding them by scrubbing through your own recording is slow, and paying an editor to do it for every episode adds up fast if you're publishing weekly.

If your show doesn't have video

Plenty of podcasts are audio-only, recorded without a camera in frame. Add Voiceover and Add Captions both work from audio alone, so an audio-first show isn't blocked from getting clippable, watchable shorts out of it — you don't need a video podcast setup to use any of this.

Which podcast moments make good Shorts

The clips that get shared are the ones a stranger follows without the rest of the episode: a guest's story with a clear ending, a disagreement between the hosts, a claim that runs against what the audience expects, or one line that works as a quote on its own.

Extract Shorts ranks every moment on that test, so the list you get back leads with those. For stories, ask for 30 to 60 seconds so the ending survives; for one-liners, about 30 seconds is plenty.

Framing two people, or one

For two people in one wide shot, or side by side on a call, the Podcast Split look gives each speaker half the frame, one above the other, with the caption on the line between them. If the shot isn't a clean two-person frame, it falls back to the Podcast look, which keeps the whole shot on screen with blurred bars above and below, so nobody is cut out.

Turn on Speaker labels and the second voice gets its own caption colour and a name tag.

For a solo show or a webcam recording, the Facecam look puts a face-tracked box over a blurred copy of the footage, the layout reaction channels use.
